Art project, week 3

How well did you respond to the first project brief?

I feel like I have responded fairly well. I wasn’t too keen on the idea of “chance” as I like to have a fair idea of what I am going to do before I do it, and with the element of chance it removes that. However I did give it a go and did all the elements that I needed to do during the studio days. Even if I didn’t understand how some elements particularly related to the word chance, e.g the printing workshop. I wasn’t sure how there was so much chance in that. But I guess the quality of the work is the chance element. As not all prints came out the same quality.

How well did I use this time?

I feel I used my time appropriately, especially in the completion of written elements during this first week. E.g the annotations around the enlargement project.

What contextual references have you found?

I haven’t really this week, maybe that is something I can consider next week when I do more artist researches.

Which new materials or practical approaches did you try/test?

Print making (reduction Lino printing) and collage techniques. Along with the narrative mini project we undertook. I loved printing and it is something I would like to do more of I the future. Not huge on collage though.

Did you undergo on going annotations that may help you in future projects?

Yes! I annotated all around most diagrams that I did to help me understand why I did certain things and why I did not do others. This lets me know further down the line what ideas worked and what ideas didn’t.

How did others respond to your work and ideas throughout the week?

They responded well. They didn’t really give me much in the way of feedback. I would have preferred more feedback/ criticism as this would have lead me to make greater changes and could have resulted in better final products. I feel like as it is the first project everybody is just being nice.

What do I need to do or experiment with next week?

In generally I just need to start my artist research as this will help my final product better and lead to better evaluation of ideas.

Tutorial- I had no tutorial this week. Though it would have been really helpful.
