Alphonse Maria Mucha is an Art nouveau artist. I selected this artist as I find their work incorporates all elements that would be regarded as Art nouveau. His work with the human form and the detailed organic structures creates a very elegant print. The focus on the gentle folds and the delicate movement of the human body is a far difference to the Art Deco movement, which was a direct response to this.
I would like to continue on the idea of organic structures mixed with architectural pieces in the further development of my work.
I do not think I will limit myself to the muted colours of this period, as I intend to work a little bit with collage and such which results in me having minimal control of the images I find. I could look at images that all share the same colour scheme however I feel like my resources will be limited and would rather focus on the content of what I collect rather than the colour of it. Likewise I do not know how well collage can lent towards Art nouveau as the images I take could be very structures and will not look as fluid when presented together.
