Lempitzky was an artist in the 1920s who created very clean and concise paintings that hung in galleries in France. her style was very unique and easily identifiable within this period of art. she appears to focus on form and shape within her work. using very distinct shapes to build up her figures and outfits that she designed.

what is also very interesting about her work is her use of colour. Whilst staying very realistic her colour uses are still very bold and the shadows cast very dark creating a very architectural look to the human face, as seen above. Similarly the features are quite exaggerated. such as the eyes. however not so much that the person begins to look uncanny, and so creates this very distinct style.

Evidence of architectural lines and exaggerated expression are also seen within this piece. The form, especially on the person on the right, is not necessarily correct. Exemplified also by the way she draws breasts in a very cylindrical manner. However they are still very aesthetically pleasing as the form still looks centred and like it won't topple over. whilst also looking fluid and sleek. Exemplifying the architectural nature of the human form that she seem to convey. Influenced by the movement at the time. These structured elements that are still streamlined and organised.
