Stage 1 reflection I found stage one to be a very helpful experience. I enjoyed most, If not all activities we did during studio times, my particular favourite being the Lino printing during the art project. Something I would love to do again and will schedule in during their open times and get a slot free. It has taught me many things I did not know before such as programs like photoshop and adobe pro cc and how to use them. Likewise it has helped me to finally decide my pathway of choice when I was stuck between two initially. I intend to do the animation pathway as it will lead me to where I need to go in further education after this year. I will miss the comrade of group 3 as we will all split up now and go our separate paths. Perhaps I will get lucky and find more of group 3 in the next pathway. Although I’m sure the animation pathway I will meet friends there too. I have learnt that artist research is a very necessary part of higher education, similarly the investigation of how certain people do things. Such as designers and how they propose their ideas to a board Is a very necessary skill to have. I feel the critiques we have done, whilst not harsh enough, were very helpful in developing my public speaking skills as trying to elaborate to a group why you did something was a difficult thing initially. However with each project critique I felt the presentation got easier. As did the groups willingness to argue your ideas, which I found helpful in wrapping up my media project. I didn’t particularly like the pace of some of the projects and felt that I wanted to do more on certain mini projects. An example of this was the narrative project. It was good to learn how to bind a book and such however I wish we had more than one day to craft a narrative and make sure the drawings and story boarding were as good as they can be. I ended up doing a little bit more work on this on my blog however I do wish we had more studio time with tutors for some of these smaller activities, as they can often sprout the best ideas. However over all I feel my skills have progressed nicely. Attending scheduled life drawing and a student union one I feel has helped my skills in drawing the human figure more. Similarly the skills I have obtained in researching have helped me look at the bigger picture in regards to my creations. I now know what I like a lot more in regards to ways of working, where I thought I was fine art from a level, but I found out the way I work is much more of a designer, working for a client. Also I found progression week to be an invaluable tool to confirm my choice of going to the animation pathway, as I was still slightly unsure between animation and illustration.
