To start we had to make a model to use in our Animation. I created my version of the character whilst the others in my group made their versions.

Initially I started with a wire frame body on which a ball of aluminium foil sat to act as the head and allow me to assess scale.

The onto of that I added fimo clay. Also adding Wadding which would act to puff up the body and give it more muscle and skin size.

I held back the wadding with a band as if it got in the fimo it would be really hard to get out again and could be annoying when curing the clay later.

I began to then dig out the location of the features.

I found it easier to model off of the body and it was had to shape some of the features with the metal in the way.

Once I got the head I wanted and corrected the features I then cooked the fimo clay. Once cooled I began painting it with acrylic paint. Letting it dry slightly to become tacky and then applying some dry pastel dust to a brush and dusting it over certain areas to give the model blush and ageing. Since he is supposed to be an old fisherman. Who often sustain damage from the salty air. Also I felt like it gave the character a bit of life since he did look quite plain.

I then began creating clothes based off of the images I found online of old yellow raincoats. hand stitching his whole costume.

The final result! I am quite happy with how he turned out. If I could change anything I would have machine sewed the outfit to make it neater.
